• The recent requirement for providing Applicants' email address;
• New rules on specimen review as of Summer 2019;
• Newer types of Office Actions, such as purely informational and commonly used phrases; and
• Guidance on Office Actions appearing more frequently, such as surname refusals.

Andrew Lawrence is a Managing Attorney in Trademark Examination with the US Patent & Trademark Office leading a team of 20-25 trademark examining attorneys. He is also the coordinator of Trademark’s work at home programs and has been involved in labor negotiations and various other projects such as the National Trademark Exposition. He began his work with the USPTO in 1989 and was previously working in general litigation and business matters in Boston, Massachusetts.
